This moderate to rapid-growing tree grows upright, with rounded, spreading branches and warty bark. It is well adapted to Colorado soils and tolerates wind, alkaline, and urban pollution. It is a good replacement for the American Elm because of its similar form and adaptability. Winter berries attract birds.
