A very slow growing shrubby pine that is well suited to small spaces and topiary forms. It was developed for its tight, compact form similar to that of the Mugo pine, which makes a suitable alternative. We typically carry Brepo Low (shrub version) and Brepo Std., which are grafted onto a compatible tree stem. This shrub is suited to hedging and for background greening in shrub borders. It produces just 3 to 4 inches of growth per year.

The Eastern White Pine is a beautiful, landscape pine widely used throughout much of North America. This evergreen conifer tree is a truly magnificent tree, attaining a height of 80 feet at maturity with a diameter of two to three feet. It carries long, soft, bluish-green needles with large brown cones. Eastern White Pine trees are widely used as a screen or windbreak. It grows rapidly for a pine tree and is pyramidal shaped when young, becoming umbrella-shaped with age. The White Pine takes six to eight years to produce a six-foot tree on good sites.

This tree creates a striking landscape element wherever it is used. The needles are variegated blue/green and they are soft and airy. This tree sheds many of its interior needles in the winter, which give it, an overall, graceful, less dense, look. The brownish-red cones are one to four inches long and persist on the tree for six to seven years.

Popular dwarf conifer displaying dark green needles on its shrubby habit of broadly spreading branches. Useful for rock gardens, mass plantings, and in groupings with broadleaf plants. Also makes a great container plant. *Note* - In our experience, the Dwarf Mugo Pines favor longer watering periods with an overhead sprinkler. While they don’t require a lot of water, if they stay moist, the new growth is softer and a brighter green.

Oregon Green Pine

8-10’
Hardy To:
Exposure:
Sun
Water Requirement:

This attractive new variety is a slow-growing selection of Austrian Black Pine, maturing 18 to 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide. Oregon Green has dark green stiff needles, more numerous than the species. These stiff and thick needles result in less needle drop in the summer. In the spring, there is a firework explosion of pearly white candles that emerge in clusters. This plant can be used as a stand alone specimen or for a wooded expanse. It is loved by a variety of birds that nest in its dense branches.

Bright green needles are very thin and soft to the touch; they are held aristocratically at the ends of its branches. Bark on the trunk and main braches flakes and peels to reveal a rusty, orange-red inner layer that provides a counterpoint to Tanyosho pine’s green needles. Use this pine as a specimen in the garden.
