Upright spreading branches create a broad oval to rounded crown. Oval leaves unfold reddish becoming purplish-red until they drop in autumn. Single, pale pink flowers in early spring produce edible purple fruit during late summer.
Discovered in Montreal, this is one of the few European plums that is reliably hardy in this area. The medium sized, juicy fruit has blue skin with yellow clingstone flesh. Ripens in late August. Self-pollinating.
This beautiful tree is perhaps the most colorful of all flowering plums! Oval crown holds dark purple-black foliage preceded by showy light pink flowers. Great ornamental accent for landscapes. Seldom fruits.
