A finely branched, globular shrub highlighted by tight clusters of small, pinkflowers. Slender, ovate leaves range from red and copper as they unfold to light greenish-yellow when mature and finally coppery orange in fall.
A very compact shrub with new foliage emerging bronze-red, then maturing to lime green. Bright pink flowers appear in mid-spring.
This Japanese spiraea cultivar is a compact, dense, upright, mounded, deciduous shrub which typically grows 1.5-2' tall with a slightly larger spread. Cultivar name is in reference to the yellow leaves (to 3" long) which are oval and sharply toothed. Yellow leaf color often fades as the summer progresses, however. This spiraea features numerous, tiny pink flowers in flat-topped clusters (corymbs) in late spring to mid-summer. Foliage may turn attractive shades of red and orange in autumn, but this usually does not occur on a regular basis. Attractive to butterflies.
Incredible color in both foliage and flowers earned awards for this Japanese discovery. New growth is tinted purple turning to green as it ages. Entire plant becomes dark burgundy with cold in autumn. Flowers are bright red occurring over an extended season from late spring into early fall. Dense mounding habit is tidy and versatile, with high tolerance for snow damage.
Snowstorm is noted for its massive dome shaped blooms and superb autumn colors. The blooms appear from early summer to mid-summer. The pure white blooms lighten up a garden and contrast wonderfully the large deep green leaves. The plant is quite sturdy and it holds its blooms up in a neat fashion. Snowstorm is a superb Darthuizer selection of Spiraea. In bloom it’s literally a snow storm. Nice compact branching habit. Excellent in mass!
