A tall shade tree with long, very slender, yellow branches that weep all the way to the ground. Best grown in moist areas, away from utilities where vigorous roots will not interfere.
This deciduous tree is also known as Tortuosa or Dragon's Claw Willow. The main ornamental feature of this plant is the contorted and twisted branches and twigs. Branches arise from the trunk at an acute angle and grow up almost parallel to the trunk before they curve back to the horizontal. The winter branch pattern is most interesting and accounts for the popularity of the tree. Corkscrew Willow trees tolerate any soil, especially wet soils with poor drainage. It is a fast growing tree with narrow light green leaves.
The Globe Willow is a long lived tree adaptable to wide ranges of soil conditions. Its branching habit results in an overall globe shape. Well known for fast growth, beautiful deep green color and characteristic shape. These willows are frequently found on river banks and are the first trees to leaf out in the spring.
The Nishiki Willow is spectacular in all seasons. The show begins in spring with yellow catkins in April – followed by new growth foliage appearing green and creamy white with pink overtones– that turns salmon pink by summer– going into fall with leaves turning yellow and winter branches turning a brilliant red. It is a fast grower, and an excellent specimen tree as this shrub is quite popular even without its tree-stem graft.
This is an ornamental pussy willow grafted onto a 'standard'. Branches arch straight down making a beautiful display in all seasons. Delightful small weeping tree! In early spring the branches are covered with large, fluffy, silvery catkins which are studded with golden anthers. Excellent choice as an accent by a deck, patio, or pond. Easy to manage and looks good through all four seasons.
